# Custom Zones

Draw zones and areas on the map for route pricing, availability rules and service areas.

**Custom Zones/Areas** are areas you draw on the map: a city, a district, a region or an airport. Zones are used in [Route Pricing](/documentation/fleet-and-pricing/route-pricing.md), [Vehicle Availability Rules](/documentation/fleet-and-pricing/vehicle-availability-rules.md) and in a company's service area. Open them with **Locations & Rules → Custom Zones/Areas**.

## The zone map

The page shows a map with your zones and, below it, the list of zones with their **Zone id** and **Name**. Tick **View** next to a zone to show it on the map. Airports have their own zones, for example *Brussels Zaventem International Airport (BRU) - Belgium*.

The map toolbar has these tools:

| Tool                    | What it does                       |
| ----------------------- | ---------------------------------- |
| **Type to search** | Find a place on the map. |
| **Pan map** | Move the map. |
| **Draw polygon** | Draw a new zone point by point. |
| **Toggle zone manager** | Show or hide the zone manager. |
| **Save**                | Save your changes.                 |
| **Clear map layers** | Remove the zones shown on the map. |

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://codico-dispatch.gitbook.io/documentation/locations-and-rules/custom-zones.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
