# Initial Setup Checklist

Everything to configure before you accept real bookings, in the recommended order.

Work through this checklist from top to bottom when you set up CodiCo Dispatch. Each step depends on the ones before it: prices need vehicle classes, the website booking form needs prices and Google Maps, and notifications need a working email connection.

{% hint style="success" %}
**Tip:** The **System Setup Guide** button in the top bar of the admin console starts an interactive tour that walks you through the same areas inside the product.
{% endhint %}

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

### Enter your business details

Go to **System Settings → Core System → General** and fill in your service name, contact email, contact phone, contact name and logo. Choose your **Default company**: new bookings are assigned to it automatically and it becomes the default selection across the system.

Then review **System Settings → Core System → Booking Limits & Rules**.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Set up languages and currencies

Choose the languages your customers can use in **System Settings → Localization → Languages**, and adjust texts in **Translations**. Add the currencies you accept in **System Settings → Payments & Billing → Currencies**.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Connect Google Maps and email

Address search, routes, distances and maps all depend on **Integrations → Google Maps & Services**. Connect it before you create prices or bookings.

Connect your mail server in **Integrations → SMTP** so that CodiCo Dispatch can send booking confirmations and other notifications.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Connect online payments

If customers pay online, connect Stripe in **System Settings → Payments & Billing → Your Billing & Stripe** and, if you use it, PayPal in **PayPal Settings**. Cash and payment on invoice need no connection. See the [payment methods](https://codico.io/taxi-dispatch-software/payments/) CodiCo Dispatch supports.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Add your airports and zones

Check the airports you serve in **Locations & Rules → List of Airports**, draw any areas you price separately in **Custom Zones/Areas**, and limit the area where bookings are accepted in **Map restriction**. Learn more about [custom zones](https://codico.io/taxi-dispatch-software/custom-zones/).
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Create vehicle classes and prices

Add your vehicle classes in **Fleet & Pricing → Vehicles**, then set prices in **Route Pricing**, **Additional services prices**, **Day & Night Pricing** and **Period pricing**. Use **Vehicle Availability Rules** to control when each class can be booked. See how the [pricing system](https://codico.io/taxi-dispatch-software/pricing-system/) works.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Add companies and drivers

Add subcontractor companies in **People & Companies → Companies** and your drivers in **Drivers**. Set up the **Driver Mobile App** so drivers receive their rides on their phones.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Review notifications

Open each template in **Notifications** and adjust the texts that customers, companies, drivers and administrators receive.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Open your sales channels

Add the **Website Booking Form** to your website in **Sales & Marketing**, connect the integrations you use under **Integrations**, and invite partners and affiliates.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Test with a first booking

Create a test booking in **Bookings → Add new**, assign it to a driver and follow it through to completion. See [Creating and Editing Bookings](/documentation/bookings-and-dispatch/creating-and-editing-bookings.md).
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

## Get help with the setup

CodiCo offers a paid **System Setup & Configuration** service if you prefer that the team configures the system for you. Compare it with the other options on the [plans and pricing page](https://codico.io/wizard/), or [book a 15-minute call](https://codico.io/book-15-minute-meeting/) to discuss your setup.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://codico-dispatch.gitbook.io/documentation/getting-started/initial-setup-checklist.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
