# Booking and Payment Statuses

What every booking status and payment status means and when it changes.

Every booking has two independent statuses: the **booking status** tells you where the ride is, and the **payment status** tells you whether it has been paid. You can filter the [bookings list](/documentation/bookings-and-dispatch/bookings-list.md) by booking status.

## Booking statuses

## Payment statuses

| Payment status         | Meaning                                                                                                 |
| ---------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Pending payment** | The booking has not been paid yet. Typical for cash bookings until the ride and for payment on invoice. |
| **Partially paid** | Part of the amount has been paid, for example a deposit. |
| **Complete payment** | The full amount has been paid. |
| **Refunding**          | A refund has been started.                                                                              |
| **Partially refunded** | Part of the payment has been returned to the customer. |
| **Refunded** | The full payment has been returned. |
| **Cancelled** | The payment was cancelled. |

The payment status and payment method are shown in the **Payment** column of the bookings list and can be changed there or in the **Amounts** block of the booking. Payments and refunds are recorded as invoices in **Invoices**.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://codico-dispatch.gitbook.io/documentation/bookings-and-dispatch/booking-and-payment-statuses.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
